SWAMI
CHIDANANDA
Ponder
These Truths
Early Morning
Meditation Talks
The reading of the words of modern saints such as
Ramakrishna, Vivekananda or Ramana Maharshi
awakened in Swami Chidananda the aspiration for a
spiritual life. In 1943 he joined the Divine Life
Society of Sivananda, who sent him to teach in the
West in 1959. In 1963 he succeeded to Swami
Sivananda at the head of the Divine Life Society.
Early morning group meditation was an integral part
of life at Sivananda Ashram. Having noticed the
special quality of these talks, the ashram
residents decided to publish them in order to make
them available to those who did not reside there.
This volume contains a selection of 75 talks given
between 1987 and 1990. The style was purposefully
kept as close to the spoken words of Swami
Chidananda.

SIVANANDA
May I Answer
That?
Question
: What is God ?
Answer : If I give you a good slap on your
face, who knows that slap ? That knower
(Vetta), that knowing subject is God.
Before he became Swami Sivananda, he worked as a
doctor in Malaysia. His constant contact with human
suffering made him turn to the life of wandering
sannyasi in search of the meaning of life. He ended
up in Rishikesh, where he met his Guru and engaged
in austere spiritual practices. Keen to share his
wisdom with seeking souls, Sivananda founded the
Divine Life Society and started writing. This book

VIMALA
THAKAR
Insights
into the Bhagavad Gita
"In
order to remain in the state of non-duality, in
order to remain merged in the supreme Cosmic
intelligence, as a drop of water remains merged in
the ocean, it is necessary to educate ourselves not
to be harassed and tortured by the thought process.
"
Vimala Thakar gave a series of inspired talks on
the Bhagavad Gita to a group of yoga
teachers, in three separate seminars, during 1992
and 1993 while she was visiting Italy. To her the
Bhagavad Gita is very sacred because it
deals with the organic wholeness of Life; and the
inbuilt complexity of Life. It affirms the
interplay between the microcosm and macrocosm and
persuades us to remain united with the ultimate
reality, not only to intellectual understanding,
but through everything that we do, at every moment.
Thus, the deepest spiritual insight concerning the
Bhagavad Gita are presented, herein, into
the words full of clarity and compassion.

THAKAR
On
An Eternal Voyage
"To
respond to every thing around me is fulfillment. To
walk austerely through pain and pleasure, beauty
and ugliness, joy and sadness of life, is living in
silence. The spontaneous movement of silence is
meditation."
This book tells us how Vimala Thakar set upon an
inward journey to freedom. It also contains the
verbatim report of some of her talks with J.
Krishnamurti concerning human transformation. After
8 years work in the land-gift-mission in India,
Vimala Thakar set out to speak about the necessity
of total inward revolution.

Totality in
Essence
A Unique
Contribution to Yogic Science
This book is a compilation of nine talks and one
question-and-answer session conducted by Vimala
Thakar in Ceylon between February 24th and March
11th, 1971.
"Sir,
do not let God be a concept and theory to be
imprisoned in the pages of the books and in the
images and idols of temples and churches. Let him
become the reality of life. He is the substance.
The invisible, the unmanifest is the substance, the
visible and the known is only the shadow. This is
the conceptualisation and ideation of the reality
that has made man fight."

Why
Meditation?
Five Talks
delivered at the Blaisdell Institute, Claremont
University, California 1974
This is a collection of five talks providing
the reader with the true perspective of the total
life necessary for a religious inquiry rooted in an
understanding of the reality on the physical, the
verbal and the mental levels. Sensitivity and
attention are essential to avoid the pitfalls of
the human mind.
"Meditation
is a state of the total being where there is no
movement at all, no movement of the mind, the
conscious, the subconscious, the unconscious. It is
a state of motionlessness. It is a dimension of
life that is beyond the field of energy and
motion."
